Denying ourselves things is a common trait among kings and knights. Perhaps not a healthy one, but one we share nonetheless.
[One he is definitely guilty of lately, which is why he is not going to say anymore about it.]
That might be what your people believed, but deep down, are you really sure you believe the same? That things can never change?
(OOC: Thanks! Sorry about that. Goes to hide in the dunce's corner.)

I don't suppose you know anyone else who has an issue similar to the one you have?

You realize that sometimes the best way to learn is to ask others for advice? There is no shame in that. Not all things can be learned alone.

If I find someone who I think might be in a similar situation, may I ask them for advice? Obviously, I will not mention your name...
[But if she will not ask, perhaps he will be able to find some way to help. It is the least he can do.]

...you may.

[Will he be any help? Diarmuid doesn't know, but he needs to try.]

[Really, Saber. You should know him better than that by now...]

...I will let you go. Thank you. For the tale.

You are welcome. Be well, Saber. If there is anything else I can do for you, please don't be afraid to contact me.

Wait a moment. Would you be able to look into information on the Jabberwock at Caer Glaem - anything and everything you can find - without raising suspicions that I have asked you?
I do not believe the creature should be used again in this war, but I cannot openly defy the High Queen...
[So she's working on another angle.]

[Diarmuid's face pales slightly. He has only heard whispered tales of the beast, but that is often how the most dangerous of creatures are spoke of. People are afraid to do more...]
I can try. How widespread is the knowledge on your side that she is considering waking it?
[The way he goes about this search will be affected greatly by how easy it would be to connect the information back to Saber. The very last thing he wants to do is put her at risk.]
no subject
[None of that could be considered a lie as it was true. She just had other reasons beyond that.]

I recently found out myself that I am sadly lacking in knowledge about many aspects of this place's history. I will probably use a similar method to look for information in that case. Here's hoping that one of us finds what we are looking for.
[Some things should not be used no matter how serious the war is...]
