[Diarmuid's voice is soft, almost less than a whisper. Not because he doesn't mean what he has said, but because he is fighting with himself as to how he should reply to Gilgamesh's request. Some people would have no problem swearing like this because to them oaths and vows mean little. Words don't hold any magic. This is not so for Diarmuid. Every oath and vow he has made is binding. Every word is part of a spell cast that will backfire on him should he not be true to what he says. This is why he cannot just agree without thought to swearing not to tell anyone about this. What if they need help to remove this curse? What if Gilgamesh swears him to silence and then refuses to act himself to fix this? Diarmuid still has vowed to protect him and staying silence would break that vow...
