MAJOR CHANGES
POST BATTLE:
- His right arm is missing at the shoulder.
- There are several 'bleed over' effects from his Master/Servant bond with Alyosha because various factors. These include:
- When his emotions are high (especially when he is angry) he will grow fangs and the pupils of his eyes will slit like a snake's eyes.
- He will crave blood whenever his energy levels are low or whenever Alyosha is strongly craving it herself. This is partly because of her being a vampire, but also because on his world, blood is one of the things that carries magical energy and so he knows it is a source of gaining that energy should he need it.
- Because of Alyosha's shadow magic, when Diarmuid uses his fire ring, the fire summoned will be shadow tinted instead of normal.
- Unspecified bleed over from the sigil magic that is so tightly tied to her.
POST TIMESKIP:
- No longer introduces himself as 'Lancer.' Instead, he uses his real name.
- Diarmuid's fighting style shifts to something reminiscent of Capoeira. His right leg is used as much as possible in place of his missing right arm, and as a result of that, his right leg now is lightly armored from knee to foot with armor that is much like that which was once on his left arm. His boot has also been modified with a hidden blade. The blade can be released with a certain tap of his foot giving him a second weapon should he need it.

SUMMARY OF KNOWN DETAILS
If Diarmuid was confused going into the battle, he is even more so coming out of it. Both castles lie in ruins, untold numbers are dead on all sides, and who knows how many worlds went with them? What good came of all of it? None. None that Diarmuid can see. As a result, he is pushed even more toward favoring the neutral side. Deep down, he no longer fully considers himself Seelie. The golden cloak that marks him as a knight of the Golden Cadre is not a badge of honor, but a reminder that even knights can take the wrong path. After he recovers from losing his right arm and spends some time learning to fight again, he will focus on strengthening his bonds with his family and friends. It doesn't matter what side they are on for he does not see them as Seelie or Unseelie. They are family. They are friend. That is all that matters. When not helping Alyosha, his new Master, and fighting the Neutral fight, he will also spend time training others, building his personal training ground at Caer Glaem, and...breeding bandersnatches? Well, at least trying. Who knows if the bandersnatches will cooperate...
Of course, all of that will be put to the side when it comes time to spoil babbins and mercenar-- Err, wait, that should be spoiling babbins and LEADING mercenaries. That's better...
PLANS
- Recover from his injuries both physically and mentally.
- Adjust to his new Master/Servant bond with Alyosha and the bleed over.

If Gilgamesh and Diarmuid are from the same world, however, then Diarmuid will know far more than Lancelot himself does -- for good or ill. The man's intentions, on paper, seem sound. To rid Saber of corruption. To return her to how she should be. Yet somehow -- someone Gilgamesh himself makes Lancelot's skin itch. The way he laughed at him and grabbed him by the rest, the mercurial nature of his personality. He feels as if he has no idea what Gilgamesh is truly like, if he can trust him, and -- well, in truth his pride is a little ruffled by the man's blatant lack of respect or courtesy.
Still, that he could easily get over with good reason.
(He did so plenty of times with Arthur, after all).
So sends Diarmuid a short note asking him to meet him of an evening when he can, signed casually -- no formal seal, no title so that he knows it isn't a court issue. He hands Bridei off to Faolan to keep settled, sits with Lady tiredly reading over an old (and somewhat inaccessible) tome on the nature of runic magic. He can only hope that Diarmuid turns up before the dry nature of the writing causes him to fall entirely asleep, or that if he does Lady barks to wake him up.

Besides, it's not like the men don't mind him taking off early considering how much he does every day.
When he makes it to Lancelot's rooms, Diarmuid greets the guards and then enters the room. The guards recognize him by now and so they don't bother him too much. Once he is inside and sees Lancelot dozing over his book, Diarmuid can't help but chuckle softly.
"Shall I come back another time? You and sleep seem to have a date to keep..."
no subject
"This book," he admits, "is not the most riveting thing I have read of late. A little... dry, and it has already been a trying few months. Please --"
Lancelot closes the book and gestures to a chair, sets it aside as he finally shakes the dregs of exhaustion from himself.
"I hope it was not a bad time. Can I get you anything...?"

"I wanted to ask you about a friend of yours, actually. His name is Gilgamesh, and he tells me you are both from the same land? Before this one, that is."
no subject
"I don't know if I would say we are from the same land. I originally came from Ireland and he from Ancient Mesopotamia. There is a great deal of time between the two of us, but we are from the same war and were both summoned into Japan. I will answer all the questions I can. Where would you like to start?"
no subject
"I met him back at the tourney, as it happens, and he... well, he noticed I had become like yourself."
Pouring out a measure of warm-coloured liquid into two glasses frowns in thought, places the stopper back in the decanter and carries them over -- sets one in front of Diarmuid and one in front of himself.
"He asked to spar with me once he returned from Leathann. I accepted; of course, I thought nothing of it, but... Well, it went a little... strangely, I suppose."
no subject
He listens as Lancelot continues, frowning when his friend mentions how the sparring went, "I am almost afraid to ask, but what do you mean by 'strangely?'"
With Gilgamesh, it could mean so many things from him wanting to make out with the person to him wanting to kill them as violently as he can...
no subject
Lancelot takes a breath, jerks an eyebrow.
"Honestly, he... reminds me of Reynard, and I will readily admit that frightens me."
no subject
He pauses and looks down into his drink, turning it carefully in his hand, "I won't let my affection blind me. He was a tyrant when he ruled. He did horrible things and often thought of only the things he wanted. Back then, he was so terrible the gods created another to balance him. To humble him. To distract him. It worked too. Then, they took him away and that drove Gilgamesh to madness. It is a madness he fights even now. A fight I am helping him fight."
no subject
"You are not making me want to trust him," Lancelot admits, and he takes a slow sip of his drink to steady himself. "... I find it difficult to respect a man who cannot respect me in turn. It..."
His fingers curl around the glass, tighten for a moment before he shakes his head.
"Reynard frightened me. He kept me in a dungeon below his fortress for a week, he invaded my room while I slept. I can tell Gilgamesh found my uncertainty frustrating and laughable both, I can tell he thinks me weak. Yet I cannot respect him purely on the merit of his ability to overpower me. We are too different, I think, for him to ever like me and likewise, for me to trust him."
Lancelot's fingers play around his glass again, then he wets his lips and edges into his other topic.
"The monarchs have tasked him with bringing down Saber. He thinks he can... change her, revert what was done. He asked my help in it. I... well, after the way he reacted to me I suspect he does not want my help. He wants my command of the Seelie forces at his back."
no subject
"What Reynard did to you is unforgivable. I wish I could say Gilgamesh has not or would not do such things, but I cannot. The thing is, unlike Reynard, I have seen the kindness that still exists in Gilgamesh's heart. He hides it deep and he hides it well, but there is a good ruler there. There is the man who reached such great heights once and then fell from them."
"If you do not think you can talk to him, let me be a communication link between you. He can lead and he can inspire, but he wants more power than either you or I would ever want. It can make things difficult..."
The mention of Saber causes his expression to darken and sadden, "Saber is his obsession. I don't know what set it off an--" he pauses and then half drains his glass. "I don't know, but I can guess. She challenged him and caught his attention. He can't let go of challenges. He must win them. Must show them he is the greatest. I am trying to talk him away form this one. It will not end well. She is so much stronger now and so much of his power has been locked away..."
He's not about to let his king throw himself into death for such an impossible dream. Especially when Diarmuid himself doesn't think Saber needs any kind of 'fixing.'
no subject
Letting out a sigh he tops up his drink a little sits back and shakes his head.
"Are you sure," he begins more quietly, "it is wise for you to stay so close to him despite your fear? To believe you can change him? Such things -- they rarely end well. I am a great believer in forgiveness, Diarmuid, but that man -- the look in his eyes when he fought me. It is the same look Reynard had, and that only ended in bloodshed. If Gilgamesh begins to crave what power Drabwurld can give him on top of his own, if he believes others are in his way --"
He doesn't finish the sentence, lets Diarmuid imagine the answer for himself. Lancelot thinks he can, well enough.
no subject
To be honest, Diarmuid has a feeling it is more about desperation. Gilgamesh's obsession with fixing Saber pushes the man closer and closer to madness. All Diarmuid can do is keep trying to pull him back away from that.
The things that Lancelot fear happening are all things Diarmuid has thought about. He has thought about them time and time again, and yet he still holds fast to his belief that Gilgamesh can be more, "Great men are capable of both amazing acts of good and terrible acts of evil. It all depends on the influences around then and what people expect them to do." Diarmuid finishes his drink and sets the glass away for a moment, "Fear him and he will begin to crave more fear. Respect him and he will learn to crave respect. Coax him to do small good deeds and he will begin do larger ones over time."
"You ask if I am sure, and my answer to you in an unequivocal yes. The battle is one I am certain I wish to fight. If I do not try, then there is no doubt he will become another Reynard. If I do try...well, who knows what great good may come from my efforts?"
no subject
He is not sure he can say, is not sure he believes he has the strength and capability in himself to change a person so set in one way.
"Your intentions are noble," he allows, "and I wish you luck in your cause. I only hope... you do not end up hurt in this, Diarmuid, in your body or your heart. Some people... they have been set in their ways so long, that even if they might appear to be changing little by little... when it comes to a moment of urgency, when they must make a decision quickly, their instincts are as they always were."
no subject
Now, he doesn't think twice about it.
"Thank you and don't worry. I will take your warnings to heart. In the end, if he does hurt me, I know there are those who will make him pay for doing so and...." he laughs, "...then you can tell me, I told you so. Until then, I am going to do everything in my power to make sure when that moment of urgency comes, he does the right thing and doesn't just follow his instincts."
