[Saber was silent for a long moment. There were parts of that tale, parts of Grainne's reaction, that brought another woman to mind. One that might have similar reactions or excuses... one that Saber also would not understand any better than Diarmuid.]

...women are mysterious creatures. I do not understand Grainne's choices any better than you.

Yet more sacrifice...

[Saber sighed.]

Would it have been different had she been wed to your lord?

[personal profile] scorchedchivalry 2014-11-25 05:28 am (UTC)(link)
You misunderstand, Diarmuid. Would her being wed have affected your choice and the sacrifices you were willing to make?

I lost my wife to one of my knights, though I never saw her as a possession. I had always been fond of my wife. [But she had never loved Guinevere. Not like Lancelot had.]

[personal profile] scorchedchivalry 2014-11-26 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
Why? Did you not love her enough to throw it all away? [Like Lancelot.]

[Saber's gaze left the locket again as she focused her eyes on the skyline again.]

It must be nice... To have her here where you can have a life with her again.

[personal profile] scorchedchivalry 2014-11-26 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
I am sorry to hear that. But she still loves you regardless of that. [That was how love worked, right?]

...if my wife were to be brought here, I would absolve our marriage and let her honorably be with the man she loved.

Perhaps.

It is difficult for me to allow myself things I used to always deny myself. I also find that my courtly manner and gestures are lost on those from modern times.

More often than not, I believe I will only end up admiring from afar. That perhaps my people were correct...

[ooc: gotcha!]

It is hard to argue with their words when I find myself having trouble understanding the others on a more personal level.

[personal profile] scorchedchivalry 2014-11-27 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
No. And I would not speak with them about this if I knew. It is just something I must learn to overcome.

[personal profile] scorchedchivalry 2014-11-29 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
I do, but I still have my pride, Diarmuid.

[personal profile] scorchedchivalry 2014-11-29 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
[Diarmuid wasn't a king, and for a king to ask for help on relating to others was embarrassing.]

...you may.

Do not trouble yourself much.
