As long as it was merely a barrage of insults and not a barrage of weapons, I think you should call yourself lucky.

[Diarmuid remembers far too vividly how Gilgamesh had attacked Berserker that night. The Mad Servant might have been skilled enough to turn some of those weapons back at Gilgamesh, but Diarmuid doubts Kayneth would have had a chance.]

So I should brace myself for taunts about a bad end when I meet him? I will keep that in mind and make sure to ignore his words...

I suspect that it may have ended that way if I didn't promise him the information I've learned about this world's secrets, because I'm really not certain how much of a leash the monarchs might have on him. I would hope there's something preventing intracourt murder, but he's certainly something to work around...

I know it is frowned upon greatly to kill those of your own court, but somehow I doubt that he would care about that. Considering how much of a...free spirit...

...he is, the Monarchs may have sealed some of his abilities. Hopefully, they will remain that way for a while. At least until we can get some kind of idea about what his plans here are.

No, I really doubt he would... or perhaps they'd seal them if he caused trouble. I can certainly see them wanting him at full capacity for the upcoming battles, but... well, who knows.

...I suppose I should ask you if you know anything out of the ordinary I could include, as I think that being in his good graces would be better for the both of us than not...

As bad of an idea as it is to get on his bad side, that doesn't mean I am going to tell him every secret I have learned, especially those which I have vowed to keep secret.

[There is sharing information because they are working toward a similar goal and then there is sharing information that might put someone in danger. Guess which of those Diarmuid is not willing to do?]

Has he been told that he can activate his shard? I would be willing to teach him how if that would help appease him any.

[That seems like as good a place to start as any.]

I realize on one hand we are offering to make him stronger, but on the other, perhaps learning how to master his shard will distract him from other things for a while.

Perhaps in the meantime someone will take him down a peg or two and he'll behave himself.

I am actually not sure on that. My gut says, yes, but if you recall his legend, there was once one who was able to leash him without causing him to grow worse. In fact, he was created by the gods just for that job.

If it happened once, perhaps with all those who are brought to this place, it could happen again.

...mn, that is true. Still, it's not terribly pleasant that we have to count on that, though, and who even knows when it's going to happen, if at all...

Indeed... which may happen, but we really ought to find some contingency plan.

I don't know if he'd have any more respect for you as a Heroic Spirit, but it's worth keeping on your toes all the same.

It is hard to say. I don't know if he even noticed me that night...

[Still, maybe that will work to their favor. If Gilgamesh hadn't noticed him, then he can't have a negative opinion of him. It will make talking to him...a little easier.]
