MAJOR CHANGES
POST BATTLE:
- His right arm is missing at the shoulder.
- There are several 'bleed over' effects from his Master/Servant bond with Alyosha because various factors. These include:
- When his emotions are high (especially when he is angry) he will grow fangs and the pupils of his eyes will slit like a snake's eyes.
- He will crave blood whenever his energy levels are low or whenever Alyosha is strongly craving it herself. This is partly because of her being a vampire, but also because on his world, blood is one of the things that carries magical energy and so he knows it is a source of gaining that energy should he need it.
- Because of Alyosha's shadow magic, when Diarmuid uses his fire ring, the fire summoned will be shadow tinted instead of normal.
- Unspecified bleed over from the sigil magic that is so tightly tied to her.
POST TIMESKIP:
- No longer introduces himself as 'Lancer.' Instead, he uses his real name.
- Diarmuid's fighting style shifts to something reminiscent of Capoeira. His right leg is used as much as possible in place of his missing right arm, and as a result of that, his right leg now is lightly armored from knee to foot with armor that is much like that which was once on his left arm. His boot has also been modified with a hidden blade. The blade can be released with a certain tap of his foot giving him a second weapon should he need it.

SUMMARY OF KNOWN DETAILS
If Diarmuid was confused going into the battle, he is even more so coming out of it. Both castles lie in ruins, untold numbers are dead on all sides, and who knows how many worlds went with them? What good came of all of it? None. None that Diarmuid can see. As a result, he is pushed even more toward favoring the neutral side. Deep down, he no longer fully considers himself Seelie. The golden cloak that marks him as a knight of the Golden Cadre is not a badge of honor, but a reminder that even knights can take the wrong path. After he recovers from losing his right arm and spends some time learning to fight again, he will focus on strengthening his bonds with his family and friends. It doesn't matter what side they are on for he does not see them as Seelie or Unseelie. They are family. They are friend. That is all that matters. When not helping Alyosha, his new Master, and fighting the Neutral fight, he will also spend time training others, building his personal training ground at Caer Glaem, and...breeding bandersnatches? Well, at least trying. Who knows if the bandersnatches will cooperate...
Of course, all of that will be put to the side when it comes time to spoil babbins and mercenar-- Err, wait, that should be spoiling babbins and LEADING mercenaries. That's better...
PLANS
- Recover from his injuries both physically and mentally.
- Adjust to his new Master/Servant bond with Alyosha and the bleed over.
- Learn to fight again. (Looking into a new arm will come later.)
- Work on getting the personal training ground he has been granted built to his specifications.

- Keep in contact with his Unseelie friends. Find ways to meet with them despite the crack down on cross court interaction.

The creature picks up the now golden swan figure, almost carefully, in his mouth and turns back to carry it toward the person who had thrown the spear. Said person appears seemingly from thin air and smiles at the creature. The person should look vaguely familiar to Thrall, though the orc will notice that unlike last time he saw him, the man is now missing one arm.]
Good job, Oscar! You found it right away that time!
no subject
Well. It's not technically wartime, and Thrall holds no real allegiance to his own side. Not after what he's learned. He considers, then gently lets himself down. He doesn't approach just yet; he calls out instead, trying to be friendly.]
Greetings, stranger! I see you are here to hunt the pests as well.
no subject
Easy there. He is a friend and not a foe.
[Diarmuid's eyes shift from the bandersnatch to Thrall then.]
I am. It's good to see you well after the battle. I hope you were able to keep those who came to you safe after I left...
no subject
I was. We managed to evacuate quite a few people. Not enough-- never enough. But they will rebuild.
[He looks at the bandersnatch, then at Dia.]
My name is Thrall. You kept your word even in a time of war, and that is something I can appreciate. [He's not going to offer to be friends just yet, but...] Would you like a hunting partner? These pests, beautiful as they are, have been eating all the crops in this area. The land has suffered enough from death and decay, as you might guess.
no subject
No, it is never enough.
[Diarmuid won't argue with him on that.]
It is a pleasure, Lord Thrall. My name is Diarmuid Ua Duibhne, though some also know me as Lancer. I would be glad to have someone to hunt with. While swans are something that I am hesitant to kill because of what they mean to my family, these are bringing hardship to a land that needs no more of it.
no subject
[He brightens at the accepted offer.] Do not feel as if you are dishonoring your family. To hunt and kill a beast is a great honor, and the spirits acknowledge this as part of the balance; our prey gives its life so that it may provide life to others. When we pass from the land-- hopefully a very long time from now-- we will give back in the same way.
Although, most prey I have hunted does not... turn into solid gold when it is defeated. That is unusual.
no subject
[Oscar makes what is some kind of cross between an amused snort and an offended growl. He then drops his head to start sniffling at Thrall's hand. After a few moments, the cub seems to decide the Orc is okay and proceeds to run his tongue over Thrall's hand.
Diarmuid winces slightly at the drool that is left behind.]
Sorry about that. At least it is a sign he likes you...
[He looks toward the bag that is now holding the one swan he has caught, then nods.]
I come from a land filled with magic and this is still unusual for me. I am tempted to wonder what this place will come up with next, but I always stop myself because I do not want to tempt Fate.
no subject
[Right, he should... straighten up and not sit there cozying up to animals like the orc he is. He shakes off any remaining drool and grins.]
Tempting fate is definitely not something I would recommend in this place. [He adjusts the grip on his spear.] I believe this swan's fellows fled west. Is your companion doing the tracking?
no subject
[Either that or the bandersnatch is a lot more like his owner than said owner would like to admit.]
I am doing most of the tracking myself, to be honest. This is Oscar's first hunt, so he still has a lot to learn. You are right, though. The others headed off to the west. Shall we move in that direction?
[Diarmuid is not exactly sure how Thrall prefers to do his hunting, but he is more than willing to work with the orc.]
no subject
Let's go.
[He doesn't wait for Dia and Oscar. He just takes off, far more agile and at home in the woods than he has any right to be. He keeps his head low, dodging major branches and seemingly untouched by the lesser ones. Just. There he go.
He slows down when the calls of swans milling about reaches his ears, and hunkers down behind a thick patch of brush. This ought to be adequate cover. Well. Maybe not for Thrall. But he is green. His blue eyes are set on the distant figures of three or four swans just fluffing about in a farmer's field.]
no subject
Oscar, for such a big animal is also surprisingly quiet. He might be new to hunting, but running is something he has been good at all his life. When the three settle to watch the swans, Diarmuid takes a moment to size up the situation and then lightly taps Thrall on the shoulder to get his attention. Instead of speaking, though, he just uses gestures-gestures that clearly indicate he thinks they should each take one of the swans: Oscar the left one, himself the middle one, and Thrall the right one.]
no subject
But he's no terrible hunter himself. Thrall silently thanks the spirits for the opportunity to hunt, and he asks for the standard hunter's blessing. He could ask the elements to make this easier, but he doesn't need to, and he doesn't want to make favors trivial. He has plenty of strength and cunning and stealth just by himself. He slips from the brush to get as close to the flock as he can while still having cover. This is a good place right here, behind a tree and brush, and he waits for Dia's signal.]
no subject
The signal comes a moment later...]
no subject
no subject
Once all of the targets are down, Diarmuid finally breaks cover so that they swan figures can be gathered up. He grins excitedly back at Thrall.]
And excellent start, wouldn't you say?
no subject
He meets Diarmuid's grin with his own.]
It is. Perhaps some hunting strategies are universal.
no subject
[Diarmuid takes a moment to dismiss his spear--it is easier to collect everything with one hand that way--and then picks up both the swan figurine from his kill and the one that Oscar made. He then turns and offers the one Oscar caught to Thrall.]
For you, my friend. That leaves us both with two. There is no reason for me to keep them all just because Oscar and I both can make kills. We can split the bounty.
no subject
You honor me with your kindness. Despite being on different sides of the war, it appears we have a lot in common.
[He reaches out to take the swan in his big hand.]
Diarmuid, allow me to extend an invitation. Lord El Melloi II and I have an accord of sorts, and he left the building in Nimh Gleanne in my care. It now serves as a neutral place on the border where merchants, traders, and travelers can stay and barter to their heart's content.
Would you be interested?
no subject
[Diarmuid shakes his head.]
It draws lines between people where there need not be lines. Kindness is something everyone deserves no matter who they are or what side of a battle the are on.
[When Thrall mentions Waver, Diarmuid can't help but smile.]
Yes, I am honored to call Lord El-Melloi II my friend and it brings me great joy to hear that the old Barrel building is being put to such good use! I would love to visit and perhaps stay for a while.
[He has some good and some mixed memories related to that place.]
I enjoy working with wood when I have the time and I am not letting my missing arm stop me from doing that. Perhaps I can even bring some things of my own to trade with others.
no subject
[He knows he's tipped his hand in saying that he runs a neutral place, but Diarmuid is trustworthy. And it's not like Thrall was hiding it that much.]
Please, stay as long as you like. I have plenty of ale and food imported from all over, and there are new merchants every day.
[He smiles around his tusks.]
I would like to see what you've made if you are willing to show me. There may be a buyer or two.
no subject
[Diarmuid can't help but smile as well. Those he fought with in the Fianna were his brothers and he has missed having that band of brothers at his back.]
I will look forward to it. I am suppose to be resting and really, I am not good at it. Perhaps if I stay to trade with people there for a while I will finally get some of that rest I so need.
[He looks a little self-conscious suddenly.]
I would very much like to show you. I have a few larger things from before I lost my arm. Furniture and the like. Now, as I relearn how to carve with one arm, I am limited to simpler and smaller things like toys and small statues.
no subject
It is a quiet, serene place even with the sound of trade. It is a place of reflection for me.
[He's never seen Dia self-conscious, but then he mentions the arm. Makes sense. Thrall smiles encouragingly.] I am no great artist, but I can lend you my arm if you'd like. I carved the charms on my spear mostly as a matter of tradition rather than... creativity. [If he did anything artistic it'd probably be writing. That's really it.]
no subject
[Even more than he thought at first, interestingly enough. Maybe this really is what he has needed all along?]
I would be very glad to have your aid. I noticed those charms and they are very well made. Whatever reason you made them--tradition or creative expression--you put much effort into them and that is the important thing. They show that very clearly.
no subject
[His smile brightens as Dia accepts his offer, though the compliments make his cheeks darken just enough to be noticeable.] I... thank you. I highly doubt my work could hold a candle to yours, but I have two arms I am not currently doing anything with. The least I can do is hold something steady while you carve.
no subject
[Diarmuid pauses when he hears some swan calls in the distance. An excited grin crosses his face.]
There are more off in that direction. Shall we continue to thin the herd?
