MAJOR CHANGES
POST BATTLE:
- His right arm is missing at the shoulder.
- There are several 'bleed over' effects from his Master/Servant bond with Alyosha because various factors. These include:
- When his emotions are high (especially when he is angry) he will grow fangs and the pupils of his eyes will slit like a snake's eyes.
- He will crave blood whenever his energy levels are low or whenever Alyosha is strongly craving it herself. This is partly because of her being a vampire, but also because on his world, blood is one of the things that carries magical energy and so he knows it is a source of gaining that energy should he need it.
- Because of Alyosha's shadow magic, when Diarmuid uses his fire ring, the fire summoned will be shadow tinted instead of normal.
- Unspecified bleed over from the sigil magic that is so tightly tied to her.
POST TIMESKIP:
- No longer introduces himself as 'Lancer.' Instead, he uses his real name.
- Diarmuid's fighting style shifts to something reminiscent of Capoeira. His right leg is used as much as possible in place of his missing right arm, and as a result of that, his right leg now is lightly armored from knee to foot with armor that is much like that which was once on his left arm. His boot has also been modified with a hidden blade. The blade can be released with a certain tap of his foot giving him a second weapon should he need it.

SUMMARY OF KNOWN DETAILS
If Diarmuid was confused going into the battle, he is even more so coming out of it. Both castles lie in ruins, untold numbers are dead on all sides, and who knows how many worlds went with them? What good came of all of it? None. None that Diarmuid can see. As a result, he is pushed even more toward favoring the neutral side. Deep down, he no longer fully considers himself Seelie. The golden cloak that marks him as a knight of the Golden Cadre is not a badge of honor, but a reminder that even knights can take the wrong path. After he recovers from losing his right arm and spends some time learning to fight again, he will focus on strengthening his bonds with his family and friends. It doesn't matter what side they are on for he does not see them as Seelie or Unseelie. They are family. They are friend. That is all that matters. When not helping Alyosha, his new Master, and fighting the Neutral fight, he will also spend time training others, building his personal training ground at Caer Glaem, and...breeding bandersnatches? Well, at least trying. Who knows if the bandersnatches will cooperate...
Of course, all of that will be put to the side when it comes time to spoil babbins and mercenar-- Err, wait, that should be spoiling babbins and LEADING mercenaries. That's better...
PLANS
- Recover from his injuries both physically and mentally.
- Adjust to his new Master/Servant bond with Alyosha and the bleed over.
- Learn to fight again. (Looking into a new arm will come later.)
- Work on getting the personal training ground he has been granted built to his specifications.

Should he say something? Or should he just wait and see if things get worse and then say something? The last thing Diarmuid wants to do is insult Gilgamesh on accident.]
Perhaps, but there is nothing wrong with being opposites. It also means that we compliment each other...
[Diarmuid's eyes come up from his glass then. There is surprise and curiosity in them.]
You like...watching me?
[As much as Diarmuid would like to say it is a relief to change the topic from Gilgamesh watching him to something else, he is not sure if the golden king asking about Grainne is what he would like that topic to be.]
Yes, that was my wife. Why do you ask?
no subject
[Once upon a time was a very long time ago indeed, however. And while Gilgamesh has no qualms with taking what he wants, regardless of whether or not his prize is taken themselves, Diarmuid has earned a small shred of Gilgamesh's respect so far. The will of the harp may intend one thing, but the will of Gilgamesh is something not even the Grail could endure later on down the line.
Still, that doesn't mean he won't press his luck. His hand drifts on over, just across Diarmuid's hip. No further, though it shouldn't have to go any further to make his intent clear.]
I was just thinking that you are truly cursed to endure such a... waspish... presence. I daresay you'd prefer my sting over hers, but who am I to judge?
[A single eyebrow lifts to fill all the provocative blanks left over.]
You are something fate would forbid me to have, no?
no subject
[There is an odd tone of disappointment in Diarmuid's voice, but it doesn't last long, driven away by the rush of feelings that hit him when Gilgamesh's hand drifts across his hip. Before, he had brushed off the meaning of the other servant's words and actions. Now there is no way to. No way to and part of him that doesn't want to. It's part of him that misses the nights he spent out with the others in the Fianna. The times after battle when celebration was called for or those times around the fire when the only comfort could be found with one who truly understood.
Diarmuid is married and his wife is here. He shouldn't want that anymore--shouldn't need it--but deep down, part of him does.
It takes a great amount of effort to push passed those feelings, though Diarmuid doesn't push Gilgamesh's hand away like he probably should. Instead, he tries to focus on something different. The golden king's words about Grainne. That should work...except for one problem. Diarmuid's emotions are already stirred and even without feeling the harp's influence, he probably speaks more freely than is wise.]
She...is not always so bad. This place has been hard on her. She says I am not as she remembers no matter how hard I try to be. It's just...I am how I remember...how I remember being as a knight. A knight she never knew. A time before she made me leave all that behind...
[Diarmuid sighs, closing his eyes.]
I don't know what fate forbids anymore except my happiness perhaps...
no subject
And then, without hesitation, he sits up again and drapes arms around the other man's shoulders, voice so stirring and commanding that it would be nearly impossible to ignore.]
It is not a role you need forsake, Diarmuid. We are envied because we are beautiful, I won't deny it, but...
[Well, why would he? He basks in it. His issue seems that he's been made to feel shame for it, and that's the real tragedy. Someone broke him, and not in a way Gilgamesh favors. But he isn't so forgone, either, that it can't be fixed. Not so fated that he's forbidden from having his own needs and wants.
At least Gilgamesh thinks so. And what he thinks tends to happen.]
There's no reason to deny yourself that happiness. The only curse you bear is the one you've placed upon your own heart, so if you see something you want, pursue it. If you see someone you desire, chase them. You are a knight by right and by blood, but no one can take from you the choice of where you lay down your sword at night. No man or woman or any mere liege.
[Teasing with a nudge to his face, he flashes Diarmuid one of his infamously dazzling smiles.]
None other than myself, of course! And surely I have always known you, and all the others, as king among your kind.
no subject
Then there are the conflicting emotions. His vows to Grainne. His knowledge that this is probably all harp fed because why else would such a great king show such interest in him, a knight so far beneath him that he shouldn't even dare to breath the same air?
As Diarmuid fights to control his emotions, his head tilts forward to rest against Gilgamesh's shoulder. Acceptance, but not...not from how tense the rest of his body is. Finally, he speaks, voice soft and unsure.]
I...want...I...
[Suddenly, a very loud cracking sound fills the room followed by another equally loud unexpected sound.]
WAAAAAARK!
[Diarmuid jerks away from Gilgamesh so hard that he almost falls off the bed. It is only a quick redirect of that energy that keeps him from spilling onto the floor. He moves quickly from the bed to kneel in front of the egg he carried in with him. It's almost done hatching...]
The egg...
no subject
no subject
What's inside, then? You never said.
[Tapping at the cracking shell with a tip of a finger, he laughs. With his previous mission failed, he helps chip away at some of it.]
Come on. If you're going to be born, then be born! It's the king's command, so obey me!
[...only Gilgamesh would try to bring something to life with the power of his will.]
no subject
[Diarmuid turns a wide eyed, excited look on Gilgamesh. In fact, he almost looks more a child than a man for a brief moment before he turns back to the egg to assist the small creature in hatching just as the golden king is.]
Come now! You heard him, Little One, and it won't do to make the king angry!
[As if the baby inside of the egg hears and understands them, the egg suddenly starts rocking and then the rest of the shell bursts outward revealing a fluffy, green...bird?]
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRK!
no subject
The bird, or rather the chocobo, being what it is, of course warks in reply.]
Hey, it's actually kind of...
no subject
no subject
no subject
No! Now that is not nice. No biting even if you are hungry!
[He taps the bird lightly on the beak and it seems to realize it has done wrong, bowing its head and making a sad warking sound. Then, don't ask from what pocket Diarmuid pulls it from, a small package of bread crumbs appears. It's not much, but he puts it down in front of the bird who seems very happy to have it to nibble on. Once the bird is taken care of, he turns to Gilgamesh.]
Hopefully, the bite isn't too bad...
[Does he need to kiss it better, oh mighty King of Heroes?]
no subject
Control your feathery heathen, lest I strike it down from this world.
[Though it's minor as far as threats from Gilgamesh go. Already he's nudging back, trying to get a closer look at this strange creature that dared bite a King without any fear at all. What kind of bird was it, anyway? What kind of brutal, beak-snapping beast could wound a Hero so boldly?
He's since learned not to touch, but Gilgamesh does lean in on his arms, watching it munch, munch, munch on its bread.]
It's certainly... energetic. It suits you, in a way.
no subject
Look at it this way, apparently he knows the very best when it is offered to him. My bird has good taste.
We should think of-- What do you mean it suits me?
[Diarmuid looks closer at the small bird wondering what about it was so like him. Energetic? Well maybe. And it is green, but that is about it. He turns a curious look up at the golden king.]
How so? Besides the fact it is green and energetic?
no subject
As for his question, well... Gilgamesh glances back at him, too.]
Green is the color of spring. And you are full of life, like this creature, so it suits you.
[Quite a high compliment from the King. Is it due to the harp? Maybe. Maybe not.]
no subject
Thank you, though the king is being far too gracious now, I think...
[Since the chocobo has finishes eating now and actually is starting to look a little sleepy, Diarmuid slowly and carefully picks it up and cuddles it against his chest. He then turns to Gilgamesh and smiles.]
It might be a little safer to try and pet him now, if you still wish to.
no subject
Gilgamesh gives it a gentle stroke along its beak, to a pleased awk-awk from the chick. Bond successfully established.]
You must give it a name. Something to compliment its color, such as... viridian! But that's too much of a mouthful, I'd say.
[Thinking, thinking... ah, perfect.]
How about "Vivi"? It's cute.
no subject
Again, it strikes him as odd how gentle Gilgamesh is being, but he is done questioning if it is the harp or some secret part of the golden king that very few actually see. He is just going to go with it.]
Vivi?
[The name is cute, but Diarmuid isn't sure if that is really what he wants to go with. The soft green, the new life, the mood of the night...]
Perhaps I should name him Aengus after my father. He was a god of love and youth. He loved new life, happiness, and joy like what we celebrated tonight.
What do you think? Is it too complicated a name for a small animal?
no subject
[The explanation gets Gilgamesh to pause. And then it gets him to lean back a little, a soft "ah" sound of recognition escaping. A god. A name. A story he didn't know. Love, young, life, happiness, and joy. It all leads him back to Ninsun, the mother he never spoke of, the few bright rays in his life as far as deities went.
Gilgamesh frowns, does not look nearly so chipper in that moment. Because he understands.]
That curse also runs through your blood, I see... but you do honor him that way.
[He tries to joke to cover over it, letting the bird nudge against his finger with a happy cry.]
Isn't it weird to go riding around on him like that, then? You're pretty weird for a Servant.
no subject
[He will never call Donn his father. Never.]
And considering he could turn into a swan at will, I think he would find me naming a little bird after him to be very amusing. He was like that. Not much bothered him.
[Diarmuid pauses, his happy expression fading when he notices that Gilgamesh's mood has saddened. Since his arms are full of bird, he leans his head briefly against the golden king's shoulder.]
What is it? Have I said something wrong?
no subject
Saber opposed me. Berserker offended me. Assassin and Caster fell to their own foolishness; Rider died before my very eyes, that clumsy idiot. But you... someone like you...
[Someone like you, who died in misery, choking on their own blood. Gilgamesh does not weep over the deaths of foes, but it was wrong. It resounds now, in his heart: it was wrong.]
I don't really understand at all. What you were doing in our war. Why you obeyed those summons. Why did we not meet sooner? Even if you weren't a King, maybe it would've been nice to drink together, on that stage with the rest of us. Maybe.
no subject
Does Diarmuid dare ask him to continue?
No...there are some things that are not worth knowing. Especially since he cannot do anything about them here.]
I came for the same reason any of us come. I had a wish I wanted granted. I fought for the one who summoned me because it was my duty. Isn't fighting for their master the duty of all servants called into the war?
[Diarmuid tilts his head up so he can better look at the golden king.]
I do not know how to answer your other questions. Fate plays tricks on us all. But we can drink here, can we not? If so you wish to drink with me...
no subject
[Perhaps it's a cruel confession to make, now of all times, but it's a part of that fate the man deserves to hear. To hear and to move on from, hopefully, as Gilgamesh had been forced to leave his crown behind even though he swore he wore it still.
He does continue, does not not go on with gory details, but it's enough to paint the rest of the picture. He rises to his feet again, shaking his head.]
I don't have a wish. [Not anymore.] Not one that the Grail could grant, for I have held it in my hands already to know. Wishes are for fools and the ones foolish enough to believe in their power. But in this world, I do wonder.
[Despite what he's said, he asks that damning question all the same:]
What do you wish for, Lancer? What dream yet beats within your heart? Tell me.
no subject
[His eyes follow Gilgamesh as the golden king rises to his feet. There is a mixed expression of surprise and sadness in them. Unconsciously, his arm tightens around the young bird in his lap. The bird first makes a startled sound and then follows that with a soft cooing as if he is trying to comfort Diarmuid.
His eyes drop down to the chick and he gently strokes the bird's feathers with his fingers.]
Wishes help keep people moving forward. Even if they are impossible, they are something to try for, to hope for.
[Diarmuid takes a deep breath and then looks up at Gilgamesh again.]
My wish for the war doesn't really require the Grail. I...just wish to be able to serve my master until the end. That is all. I just want to finish what I started...
no subject
[The command cuts sharp, authoritative, above even the call of that endless harp. Gilgamesh's will supersedes everything; it stifles everything and everyone around him. And he displays that quality once again, that charisma which flows so fast and free it's like a curse, addressing Lancer as if the only Master he could ever have in this moment was Gilgamesh himself.]
Wish for your own sake. Upon your own star. That is why you did not belong among us on that stage. That is why you failed, placing hopes in another who abandoned you to your fate. If you really wish to drink with a King...
[Upon Diarmuid's shoulder Gilgamesh's hand goes. He is warm, full of energy, full of life, full of spirit. And he shares it with him.]
Then act as though you belong with one. Hold up your head when you walk with me. At my side, rather than behind. I would accept that. I would accept you. [Quietly:] It is not a lie or a trick. Do not disbelieve my words. You dishonor me that way.
