Ruby City Mailbox/Inbox

You have found the Mailbox/Inbox of Diarmuid Ua Duibhne, owner and teacher of the training school, Spiral. If you have business with him or the school, please feel free to leave a message and he will get back to you as soon as possible. Considering his abilities, that might be quicker than you think...
[TEXT]
Sometimes the school seems a little empty now that it is so close to being finished, but I am sure that will change once it is opened and more people are visiting.
[And that is the closest he will get to admitting that just maybe, sometimes, he gets a little lonely...]
[TEXT]
Can't slack on training just because Father isn't here.
[ Won't be alone. ]
[TEXT]
[Thank you, Damian.]
You know, sometime I should get a pet to be the school's mascot. What do you think I should get?
Re: [TEXT]
[ Excuse you, kiddo, Dick can show you the floor whenever he wants. ]
Hm. Have you considered Mordred for the position?
[TEXT]
[And he is totally not laughing at the Mordred crack. You saw nothing.]
Mordred has already accepted the job of gopher. I don't want to overburden her...
[TEXT]
True. Limited responsibilities are the best choice with that one.
[ Everyone knows Damian wouldn't let her be mascot, anyway. Duarmuid is his mentor. He only shares Pendragon because of blood rights. ]
[TEXT]
So not Mordred. Do you have any other ideas?
[He is just going to quietly sidestep that dig at Mordred. You like her, Damian. Admit it.]
Re: [TEXT]
Honestly? I'm not very familiar with companion animals, or animal mascots.
I have heard good things about those small dragons everybody seems to be getting. But they're common by now. Maybe a unicorn?
[ No. ]
[TEXT]
A unicorn? Don't those only let pure-hearted maidens near them? I am certainly neither of those things.
Re: [TEXT]
I don't know about the maiden thing, but it'd be one-of-a-kind as far as mascots go.
[TEXT]
That is true. It would be a lot more unique than a dog or a cat, though, I have to admit I do think the little dragons are nice as well.
[Amusingly enough, despite all the fantastic creatures that roamed Ancient Ireland, they had no dragons. Dragons were always creatures that people spoke of other places having. To see them now--no matter how common they might be--is still amazing to Diarmuid.]
Re: [TEXT]
[ He wants one. But psychically-bonded dragon was where Grayson draws the line. In hindsight, it's for the best; he wouldn't want any creature to experience the things he sometimes has to endure, back in Gotham. It wouldn't be fair to it. ]
Go big or go home, Diarmuid. I vote unicorn.
[TEXT]
Your vote doesn't mean much if I can't get near enough to a unicorn to make friends with it. Unless you are actually implying I am some kind of pure-hearted maiden myself and just don't know it...
Re: [TEXT]
You mean you're not the fairest in all the land?
no subject
If I am the fairest this land has to offer, it is in big trouble...
no subject
When is it not?
no subject
I think we are talking about different kinds of trouble here...
no subject
What do you mean?
[ Sweet summer child. ]
no subject
Never mind. It's not that important. This city has all kinds of trouble. Why don't we leave it at that?
no subject
[ You realize he's not going to leave it at that, Diarmuid. ]
no subject
So...mascots. Do you really think there is a way we might be able to get a unicorn?
no subject
Well. I know they exist here. If the lore is the same, then someone young and innocent should be able to get close enough to throw a lead over it and see how it goes from there. If we get a younger one, it might be easier for it to adapt to being around others.
[ A unicorn as a mascot is totally a possibility. And fitting, for Diarmuid. ]
no subject
That is a good plan, but who is young and innocent enough in this place that a unicorn would get that close to them? Unicorns are intelligent as far as I know. It might grow angry if it is caught by the innocent person only to be handed over to a person who is not so innocent.
[Would even a young unicorn be interested in befriending those who aren't innocent? Diarmuid is unsure of this.]
no subject
Perhaps we can track it, maybe? Visit it in the wild over the course of a few weeks, and see if it becomes used to our presence. If it grows attached enough to first an individual, then a small group, it might be willing to return to Ruby City to stay.
[ That still leaves the problem of someone young and innocent, however. ]
Perhaps Kuzuryuu might be willing to be a test dummy. Mordred, too.
no subject
Perhaps, if we don't scare it away right off the bat. Honestly, it's hard to tell if these unicorns are exactly the same as the ones from the tales we know even.
[Hopefully, they won't turn into evil monsters that try to eat them.]
Who is Kuzuryuu? And do you really think Mordred would count as innocent and pure?
[Really, Damian?]

also i have been breaking MY brain figuring out DC timelines and his b-day is totes non-canonical.
*pats* It's okay. Diarmuid's is non-canon too. Neither the anime/myth give anything to go by.
it wouldn't be so bad if DC actually indicated seasons/a timeline OTL
But that would require continuity...
i hear continuity is poisonous to dc
I have heard this too. IT MUST BE TRUE! X.x
